What does the 10/50 rule allow me to do?

If you have a parcel of land within an identified 10/50 vegetation clearing entitlement area, the scheme allows you to:

  • Clear trees on your property within 10 metres of a home, without seeking approval; and
  • Clear underlying vegetation (other than trees) such as shrubs on your property within 50 metres of a home, without seeking approval.

Rural Boundary Clearing Code

The NSW Government has introduced a Rural Boundary Clearing Code to help landholders in identified areas remove vegetation from their property boundary to help prevent fire spreading.

The Code allows for clearing only in identified areas, such as areas which are zones as Rural, and which are considered bush fire prone. Click here to download the Boundary Clearing Code
